OUR PHILOSOPHY We use a gentle, loving, child centered approach to teach basic swimming skills such as submersion, back float, kicking, reaching and breath control. Our aim is to empower parents by teaching them the techniques to progress their child in the water. Using verbal cues, body language and positive feedback; parents learn to introduce their child to the basic swim skills. Parents are the child's main teachers and role models so we emphasize the importance of their positive attitude and behavior.

History - Our 1st waterbaby

Right after Rose was born in 1989, we (Vera & Chris Garibaldi) floated her in a little basin and she immediately relaxed and felt back at home. Born near Melbourne, Australia, she found her way to BabySwim Australia where we first experienced Infant Aquatics from a wonderful teacher named Cookie Harkin. We spent several exciting years with Cookie and she was the inspiration for what was to come.

Vera brought Rose and Cookie's training back to the US and after Vera added some of her own teaching experience, she created Waterbabies Aquatic Program in late 1997. She started with 15 students in 1997 and in 2005 runs 4 sessions per year with around 1000 students per session. Vera presents at conferences across the country and internationally while she continues to teach in the Seattle area.
